So we’ve been living in our home for a little over a year now. It’s a new build ― built in 2016, and we’re the first family living in it. Our home has 3 stories (unfinished basement), upstairs laundry, 2.5 baths, attached garage, a large patio and deck. It’s seriously beautiful, and although there’s still a few finishing touches we’ve yet to add (dining room chandelier, finishing the basement) I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
I love my home. I love the high ceilings. I love the open concept. I love that our master bedroom is almost as large as the main floor at our old house. I love that our master bathroom is larger than our old bedroom. I love that we have a spare bedroom, currently being used as an office but it just might become another nursery in the years to come. I love that we’re close to a park where Ollie can play safely. And did I mention how awesome having a walk-in closet is?
We may live in suburbia, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We live in the best neighbourhood in town ― it’s quiet, it’s kind and more importantly, it’s safe. We do eventually want to move out to the country but we’ve already decided that we’ll be moving into another new build when we do. My friends refer to our neighbourhood as Alexandria because obviously it looks a lot like Alexandria from the Walking dead.
Honestly, our home is pretty huge, but it’s necessary because we have a lot of stuff. And while there may only be 3 of us (4 counting the cat) our home fills up quick and I can’t imagine living anywhere smaller. Our home is still a work in progress but it’s ours and I love it.
