I was gifted this old rocking chair shortly after Olivia was born. It’s about 70 years old and a bit dingy. I had it sitting in Olivia’s room for the past year and it really stands out. So I decided to give it a bit of a makeover and breathe some new life into it. Thankfully I have a large unfinished basement to work in whenever I decide to take on projects like this.
So I gave this beauty a really good clean, sanded it down (Ugh.. I hate sanding), and covered it up with a few coats of light blue paint. And check out how amazing it looks! It looks like a brand new piece ― not at all like that dingy 70 year old chair I was gifted!
So what’s up next? Custom cushions. I have to pick up some black and white polka dot fabric, sit down with my sewing machine and get started within the next week. I’ll post again once I’ve finished the cushions.
I’m working on several other projects including an old bench and vintage desk. The bench I’ve been working on lazily whenever I have the chance, but I hope to finish the desk soon and use it in my office for my chic home office makeover ― more on that soon.
