I picked up the Sephora Favorites Sunkissed Glow set the other day. It’s an alright set. Some of the contents are a bit too travel size for my liking although it is nice to try out different brands. Sephora Favorites sets usually offer so much more bang for your buck. Not this time though!
So anyway, add this set to my growing pile of bronzers, highlighters and illuminators. I wanted to do a little review on the products I already had and those that came with this set.

To begin, Anastasia Beverly Hills and Tarte have by far the best highlighting products around ― that I’ve tried anyway. I recommend using Amrezy on your face and Tarteist Pro Glow on your body (such as your collar bone.) I’ve had mixed results using a liquid highlighter on my face, often it results in my face looking cake-y or a bit too shiny.
So let’s talk illuminators. The Sephora drops are pretty great. You can add them to your foundation or apply them directly to your face. These drops are basically a cheaper alternative to Tarte’s radiance drops. I didn’t want to drop $50 without knowing if this product is for me first. Really though, they’re both the same product, one just has a smaller price tag.
Cover FX’s shimmer veil can be used as a highlighter, an eyeshadow, or as a lipgloss. It’s a pretty versatile product but it left me with a strange waxy feeling that I just couldn’t shake. Thankfully I receive mine with Boxycharm so I wasn’t out of pocket the full price.
Tarte’s amazonian clay waterproof bronzer is amazing. This is basically a multitask product that can be used as a basic bronzer or for contouring. The Amazonian clay-infused formula is said to improve skin clarity, texture and tone. I don’t know about all that but it’s a nice thought.
Love It: Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Highlighter, Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter, Nars Illuminator, Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer
Leave It: Cover FX Shimmer Veil, Benefit Cosmetics Hoola
Off topic, it’s been 35 degrees here all week. That’s 95 degrees fahrenheit for my American visitors. A common misconception about Canada is that it’s always cold. Sure, our winters are brutal. But our summers tend to be super hot (and just a little bit humid) and typically last from May straight through until mid September, sometimes as late as October. We don’t really experience Spring. We’ll usually experience winter then jump right into summer by April. I really love summer but 35 degrees is a bit too much for me. I’ll take 25 degrees and sunny year round with the occasional thunderstorm, thank you very much.
