For the second year in a row we had a green Christmas, but this year it was also unseasonably warm – +6 and sunny. Strange, but I don’t mind. I really don’t do cold. I don’t fair well with extreme temperatures in general. My husband and I have discussed moving to the west coast where it’s a bit warmer but it’s not a possibility right now with his job and of course all our friends and family live here.
So we had a really great Christmas. We’re into the second week of the new year and life has been just a bit chaotic. My cat caught FCV a little over a week ago and so I have to feed him every 2 hours via syringe as well as administer pain medication and antibiotics. It’s not fun but he’s slowly getting better. Basically FCV can cause a variety of symptoms, or mouth ulcers and limping kitten syndrome in the case of my cat. So he requires a lot of nursing care until the virus leaves his system.
In good news, O has pretty much decided to potty train herself. We’re 6 days in without a single accident. I don’t know what changed but suddenly she just decided she wanted to be a big girl. We’re pretty ecstatic, especially considering she starts school in a couple months and we were worried about making the deadline because our girl is quite stubborn.
Still going ahead with kitchen renovations this month. I’m going to kick off with painting and just work my way through the list bit by bit – walls, cabinets, hardware, sink, countertop, lighting, and flooring. It’s a huge project but I’m excited to get started.
So points of interest in our house:
- Stairway (to commence once we finish the kitchen)
- Gut the bedroom walls and replace that nasty plaster with drywall
- New flooring in the upstairs bedrooms
We’re basically working our way from the downstairs upward. I eventually want to replace to flooring in the sunroom and swap out the ugly ceiling fans for more modern lighting but those projects are small in comparison.
