In October I got started painting our living room/dining room/upstairs hallway. I was inspired by a color scheme I found on Pinterest. Plume Grass is the shade we used on the walls and white glove for the trim.
The previous owners painted the entire house basic builder grade blue and it was awful. I wanted to create a space that is light, airy and earthy. I feel like we’ve achieved that. Our home feels so warm and inviting now. I read somewhere that certain shades of green can create a relaxing atmosphere and I can’t help but agree. A while ago I painted the master bedroom a similar color scheme (a lighter shade of green) and the bathroom is olive, so we’ve created a nice flow throughout the house.
All I have left to paint is the rest of the ceiling trim and our 18 foot staircase. Our staircase is a whole other project, thankfully I won’t be the one taking it on. We’re hiring out so we can get the project out of the way as quickly as possible. Originally we wanted to sand the staircase done to it’s original wood but there’s just too many layers of paint and it would be impossible to keep the original design so we’re having the entire staircase replaced with something much more modern. More on that later.
Oh, and I still plan to replace the lighting in the living room and dining room. I can’t stand ceiling fans. I plan to replace with modern lighting in the living room and a classy chandelier in the dining room.
I really want to express how much I love our home. It’s the perfect farmhouse and it has so much charm. I can’t wait to see it all remodelled. We have a 10 year plan with this place, basically modernize it and sell it at a profit, then move to our forever home in the country.
